How Our Local United Way Helps

We provide grants to non-profits whose work alligns with our mission. In 2018, we will supply 28 agencies with $100,000 in Community Investment grants and several others will receive funds through other initiatives.

Our United Way operates  2-1-1 in Shasta and Tehama counties. 2-1-1 provides information and referrals to people needing help in any realm of health or human services. In 2015 about 4,500 Shasta and Tehama county residents dialed 2-1-1 and our website,, recorded more than 130,000 searches. The 2-1-1 information line is staffed by live specialists and is available to the public 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We created and manage Volunteer NorCal, a website designed to match local agencies in our 9 county areas with individuals looking to serve their community by volunteering.

Our United Way acts as a convener and backbone agency for collective impact efforts, including the Prosperity Initiative, which aims to improve financial stability and mobility for Shasta County residents.
